I was just reading a review of the new apple iphone 3g at the courier mail website.
The phone sounds pretty good apart from a few small items that will probably end up being rectified with future releases of it

check out the review here

I think I'll wait till the next model comes out, by then my nokia e90 will be due to be upgraded anyways

Can't believe people queued up for a mobile phone launch.
My contract is up soon so I'll get something new for myself then, but nothing fancy. I guess it is exciting to get a new phone but it's just a phone and especially something like the Iphone - for me, all it would be doing is putting a lot of things I already use in to one package (the web, Ipod, GPS, camera). But anyway, cool phone but does it justify the hype? For me, no.

I look at it this way...although I wouldn't buy an iphone. As it's relatively expensive, new and has features I don't really want.
The fact that it has a presence here, does make it more competitive. Actually, its putting the pressure on other brands to drop their price to be viable.
My prepaid LG Tu500 (next G) is a piece of junk, give me a V6 Motorola any day!

Bruso thats a very good point.
They have set it at a better price than most the phones up in the same market. I have a imate jamin that was retailing at $1400 to buy outright. It sits in a drawer now, and the nokia e90 I have they wanted $1600 to buy outright when it came out.
If Apple can launch the iphone at $729 and $849 outright Im sure these other makers could do the same.

i prefer to kiss it though (keep it simple stupid)
my phone is basically just a phone.
whatever is on offer with the plan i sign up for at the time
mind you i can see the attraction to new technology and gizmos

Until they make 3G at least as fast as 8000kb a sec and the price of accessing the internet with this phone cheaper, I don see the point in the phone. 256kb on 3G is just too slow for a connection to the net on a phone.

I've never used the net on my phone. I am never so eager to jump online that it can't wait until I get home.

I'm running 1500 here at home, but really if I bought that phone I would be buying it to store tv shows and movies to watch on down times ( when that is I never know ) but I hate waiting for stuff to download and when I have traveled overseas the internet almost seems instant compared to where I live

1500 is ok, im on adsl2, its supposed to get up to 8000, but rarely have I seen it get to 4000. Thats pretty quick, still not as fast as what I experienced in the states either. Optus cable is the quickest Ive had, but still not as fast as the US.
We're just not there here in Aus yet

I love my Adsl2 (I have it on wireless). Great for browsing and If I'm bored I can download a movie in 15 minutes and watch it (Mind you, I like to make them into a proper dvd so the encoding in the burning process can take some time but that's okay). It just sucks when I want to play a game online or something as it will jump in and out of connection and sometimes disconnect from the server completely.

Yes, FLN, I was recommended to do that when I changed to wireless from my old dial-up. Either because of that, or for some other reason, I have never had a problem with streaming data.
I guess I am lucky, because it all just works and goes on working - two years down the line. My only changes have been to hardware: a new laptop last October, and a new desktop in December, both running Vista. I now work on the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" system, and avoid fiddling...

Hi, I run a 1500 ADSL at home. TPG and it's cheaper than Telstra. Can't fault the service.
Have a Wireless Telstra modem service for when I'm away from home. Plug my Laptop via modem into an external antenna on the caravan and it works a treat
Even in the Local National Parks. Only 400mb which is more than I need for when I'm away.
Found the wireless to be much faster than the old dial up. Not that far behind the ADSL at home actually.
