We have been looking at some other courier companies to try and get better delivery rates for everyone.

One that seems good is couriers please.

The upside.

What they are offering is cheaper rates, around $2 per parcel less and $3 on the bigger parcels. Plus for $1 extra the parcel will be insured for up to $1000. This I think is great for those odd times where Auspost has lost a parcel. They also offer complete tracking service.

The downside is the delivery times.

Brisbane to brisbane is same day (a plus for us brisbanites)
Brisbane to rest of qld - next day to 2 days depending on how far from brisbane.
Brisbane to Sydney and Melbourne - Next day
Brisbane to rest of NSW and Vic 2 days, 3 for outer areas.
Brisbane to adeliade 2 days, 3 days to outer
Brisbane to perth 4 to 5 days
Brisbane to darwin and hobart 5 days

No Deliveries take longer than 5 days, but the delay is cause it is road transport, not air.

The things I want people to consider is does the lower cost outweigh the extra time for delivery to some places?

And is the bonus of having items insured going to outweigh the extra delivery times to some places?

If you can please add your input here and even those people just surfing through the forums give some input, it would be very helpful.

for me personally where i am it appears the delivery time would be the same so for my opinion yes i would be all for cheaper delivery and the bonus of the insurance over the package.

This one is strictly NOT for me, but I would - and do - always pay for fast, insured delivery when it is available. I hate waiting, for a FL or indeed anything I have "bought" - wanting delivery asap. Have today paid £3.90 extra for next-day delivery of a 4GB memory card for my Nikon D200 body. That is effectively 8% extra, but not much actual cash, so I paid it.

Query: if you are losing less than 1% of parcels averaging, say A$120, if you added $A1 per parcel, you could choose to act as your own insurers? Worth a thought!

As I say, not my place to say here, really, though. Will watch with interest.

thanx guys this is why I posted this one.

There was a couple of reasons for us looking into new couriers. One was that every now and then Auspost do lose an item. The sad thing is they don't do insurance on express post and that being the fastest way for us to send them, we use it. All that Auspost will do is reimburse up to $50, which doesn't even come close to compensating our items. In the beginning we used to just send the customer a replacement, but it got out of hand and was costing us alot in lost stock. So we had to implement that it was up to Auspost to reimburse what they could.

Fln you are right, auspost will allow for insuring items, but then it goes back to regular delivery schedules. So perth would be 3 to 5 days. Also registered post costs more to send than express post. I looked into this awhile ago, figuring the delivery times weren't so bad, but they do it all based on weight of items, and the distance it had to travel. It worked out that a single fleshlight to Perth would cost around $20 to send, whereas express post is $11.90

The courier will deliver c/- a post office, but not to a PO box.

What we are looking at is that nsw, qld and vic our biggest buyers wouldn't really be affected by this, its only the other states that would have to wait longer.

Jonny your idea of $1 for insurance is good. We could add it as an option on the cart, save those funds and on the odd occasion that the couriers did lose an item we would have the funds to cover the costs of the item.

This is good food for thought.

At this stage it wouldnt be implemented until after july sexpo anyway. And only if we (everyone, members, customers and team) think its the best way to go.

Some very good feedback, thanks fellas.

I will give my simple and fairly bland response: I have never had anything lost with Aus Post personally and I do a lot of internet shopping and I'm also not too fussed at whether I save a few bucks as FLN says when you're spending over $100 anyway.

It is funny though, at the opposite end of the money scale I feel like I'm getting a massive bargain if I'm getting a $10-$15 dvd instead of a $20+ one.

Wow well done guys.

As the sole handler of customer service, this subject is a sore point with me a lot of the time. cool.gif

Most customers do NOT read the Delivery method page which informs them of certain aspects of their shipment. If you are ordering $100 or more which inevitably most customers are, then please make sure the order will be sent where someone is going to take receipt of it. Don't rely on the middle man doing the right thing.

I spend a fair amount of time explaining the above via email contact messages

IF an order is sent and the shipping company has lost it, suddenly we are the bad business and should be giving back a refund, as frustration sets in on the customer which I always handle with diplomacy. (Guys, seriously PLEASE read the Terms of Use of this site and Liability). I aim to keep every customer happy, and will do everything in my power to help find any wayward orders, but there are times when it is just out of my hands.

And for just $3.90 more for AAE, why do most ya'll still use Aus Post which cannot be tracked?

Ok.. *getting off my soapbox* that being said, we do value your input and feedback. Both here and in email.
We take every email seriously and use it to help improve our service. Things will inevitably go wrong. Our record is exemplary and many customers are repeat customers who stand by our product and service.
So for that I/we thank you..

May the force be with you, and your fLight(sabre) guide you in troubled times! rolleyes.gif (it sounded good in my head, lol)

According to the delivery times you have posted above for Couriers Please I'm in the 2-3 days range, living in what is often classed as regional NSW. I must say I value guaranteed overnight delivery over saving a few bucks, so that makes me side with AAE over Couriers Please, it allows me to predict exactly when the parcel will arrive, which is important to me. AAE deliver to my place overnight from Brisbane, as do Australia Post.

I know both the Australia Post contractor and the AAE driver for my area and I know what time of the day they usually turn up, again something I need to know for my own privacy and time management. And like lordoth I do a heap of internet shopping and eBay transactions and have never had anything sent through Australia Post go missing in the last few years.

So the bottom line for me is that if you are going to change couriers keep the Australia Post option please. I value speed over cost, I often upgrade my Amazon.com orders to their courier option which can cost me a fortune! But I know I will receive the shipment within 3-4 days and not up to 4 weeks like their regular shipping.

PS: I'm ordering a Black Case this week and will be selecting AAE for the shipping.

Its all good, we are looking into insurance ourselves thru a third party so we dont have to affect shipping times. smile.gif
