Shake out as much water as possible and place in a well ventilated area, like near a window or next to a fan. For quick drying, slide a thin cloth/towel through it from one end to the other. When you return it to the case, make sure to leave the end caps loose so that air can continue to circulate.

if humidity is high, puttingthe insert about eighteen inches in front of a fan (with or without it being a heated fan) soon completes the drying.

that one's a good tip Jonny, thanx.

Should see if we can get some other forum members to offer their drying suggestions as well

Ok, I'll bite fazman!

I used to dry my inserts by patting them dry with a towel and then shoving the towel into the canal to soak up all the moisture. This lead to a whole bunch of fuzz-balls all over my inserts and then the material was getting rubbed off and formed a bunch of dirty FL material sticky balls that are really hard to get off of the FL. (Think rubbing your hands together really hard when they are dirty...) If you want to use this method, I suggest doing it with a lint free towel, which would keep this tragedy from occuring.

Now I use a fan to blow the inserts dry. I just put the insert on a towel and place it under my desk for additional concealment, and turn the fan on in front of it. 10" maybe from the inserts. (25.4 cm for you guys right?) And that usually dries the inserts inside and out in about 30 minutes. I check the inside of the insert just to be sure, and then store it. If its still dry I just let it sit in front of the fan for a bit longer until it is dry. 1 hour max drying time usually.

Thanx for Biting mooseman.

ur conversions were spot on too wink.gif

Im fortunate in the sense that fazchick doesnt mind me having fleshlights, so when Im done, I just sit the case upright on the vanity sink and sit the insert in the top without pushing it all the way in. And it usually sits there for days on end or until I can be bother to put it away smile.gif

Mooseman, thanx for supporting the "fan idea". I have used this almost since the first week I had my FL, and I did post the idea on the US forum at one point.

I sometimes push a linen handkerchief through the canal, using a chopstick (or similar thin wooden rod) before using the fan.

Sometimes, though, I just hang the insert up to dry overnight, using a bent wire coat-hanger - which just fits around the recess on the insert where the rim of the case fits. I hang it up on the inside of a cupboard (closet) door.

All methods work, given time and patience. The fan method is best, if you are in a hurry to use th FL again...

I also sometimes put the insert back into the case, and stand the whole thing on end on top of the fan. So that the fan blows straight up and through the canal. I'm not sure which one I like best. I'm pretty sure that my roomie saw two of my FLs sitting under my desk the other day (all the apt. info is in my room, so unfortunatly sometimes people just come in when I'm not here...) but if I use the stand up method, I can tuck my desk chair in front of the whole set up and block it from view. Him seeing them doesn't bother me, so it just depends on which one works best!

So using this method the insert is typically dry by morning right? Now that my living arrangements have changed somewhat I can actually do something like this, it's not a bad idea either and I just got a wire coat hanger from the dry cleaners.

Another question for everyone who air dries their inserts without any mechanical aids (no fans), how long does it take for them to dry completely on average?
fazman
mine are usually dry within a couple of hours of sitting on the sink

The time to be really dry does vary with the temperature, and the humidity. The wire hanger idea does work well, though. I still use it most times, and when the humidity is high, use the handkerchief/chopstick first.

Thanks for your answers. I used to dry my inserts manually with a towel or paper towel and they ended up the same as Moosman's, with all the little fuzzballs all over them.

I use a hairdryer, on a cold setting, hold it right up to the insert. Dries in minutes. Only problem is I don't own the hairdryer and I can only do this occasionally. Then to store it I roll up some toilet paper and put it in one end (bit like a tampon I guess). seems to work pretty well. Tried the talcum/baby powder suggestion didnt like it. Ugh...just read the cleaning thread, and fazmans comment not to use talcum/baby powder...whoops (does this cause degeneration of the material? caus that might be why mines gone a bit weird) :S i guess i'll try corn starch.
