Ok, I'be been hunting around for a new surround sound thats a Blu Ray with wireless rear speakers, since my old phillips dvd surround sound decided after 5 years it no longer wants to play dvd's.

So this is all the choices Ive located and the best prices Ive found so far for them.

Panasoni SCBT207W Blu Ray Surround Sound - $899

The Sony - although with a different model number in UK - but I believe to be the same: a friend has this, and it sounds AWESOME!

In general, I tend to buy Sony on grounds of good construction and long life. Usually worth 10% on price, I reckon.

I do like sony. I have a sony bravia 40inch lcd. I think it links up with that surround as well quite well.

Yeah, I got an al-cheapo LG sound system. Dvd player skips on everything (movies, audio cds) Not that it matters as I use my PS3 for blu-rays/dvds/downloaded movies etc. The sound quality lacks something too. It is okay but I find I just use my tv speakers instead, although it is set up in my bedroom so it's probably set up too close to me to sound right. Sony & Samsung would be good choices

I currently have a phillips surround sound with dvd. Its been great to us, only been in for servicing once for some reason within the warranty period.

The sound is pretty good out of it, even though it only cost us $400 when we first got it 5 years ago, but with the dvd not playing at all now, and me wanting a wireless system so I can get rid of the cables that I have pinned all around the roof, I figure its time for a new system smile.gif

I have considered just getting a amplifier since I have another dvd player that we're currently using and keeping the speakers, but then I could use those speakers with an amplifier on the pool room setup.

DECISIONS, DECISIONS...

I would still go for the Sony, and do the "new" setup in the pool room.

Go for it! As my Maternal Grandmother - born in 1875 - used to say "Damn the expense: give the cat a canary!"

lol 1875, crazy. Only approximately 100 years after Australia was formed!

Yeah, Phillips are good. Well, were good quality. I can imagine they also still are, just have lots more competition these days.

I must also admit, that paying out on LG in my last post may not be a problem with the brand, just the fact it's a cheap model. I just miss my brother's system. It was Sony from memory and the speakers were Jensen and it was great for our rumpus room at the time. I would never really want to use in my room though, blow my ears off.

im more than likely going to go with the sony. Just need to get paid for some jobs first. Sux when you're owed 10's of thousands of dollars for work completed sad.gif

ah the bugger of running accounts and slow payers. it sux bad. much better now dealing in a cash up front business
jonnyW
FAZ, I know you can't do it, but when I was consulting and the monthly invoice was unpaid , I used to see the client's Finance guy, and say to him "Do you like your salary paid on time?"
I NEVER got "No" for an answer; I then said "My invoice IS my salary, could you pay it soon?" Quite often, it worked!

Slow payers are the curse of all small business's and I reckon if you can keep it down to two months worth of creditors, you can't hope for much more. Slow payment is one thing, non-payment is quite another, though and bad debts can be a nightmare....

Lordoth; lol @ My Granny. My granny was born and lived for a long time in the little village of Sipson, which will disappear under the third runway of London Heathrow, if they ever do build it. She then lived forty years in Harmondsworth which will then be within the airport boundary. SHE DIED IN 1965, AT 90, HAVING SEEN THE WORLD CHANGE A VERY GREAT DEAL, but probably not as much as I have seen it change in my lifetime (so far). I'm still going strong had three FL sessions within 24 hours this week...

this builder usually takes awhile to pay, but I always get paid. I just like to remind him that all my stuff is on 30 day accounts and if I dont pay them they start hassling me, so I start hassling him. Plus I freeze anymore work to them until full payment is made.
